This Friday, the Municipality of Santiago de Surco executed a demolition operation of the Housing of the APP parliamentarian María Acuñaalthough this was not completed due to people who protested and prevented the advance of the machinery. The demolition was suspended and there is still a public space to recover.
The actions were taken as a series of measures that have the objective of recovering public spaces for parks, although the lawyer of the congresswoman and other neighbors argue that this intervention is an “abuse of authority”, announcing legal measures against the municipality to stop these works.
In that sense, the mayor of the district, Carlos Bruce, said that criminal complaints will be prepared against those who try to avoid the recovery of public spaces.
“We are going to stop until these spaces are recovering and I regret to announce that those neighbors who instead of collaborating as an act of contrition decide to enter this type of leguleyadas, starting on Monday the municipality of Surco will file criminal complaints for usurpation of public areas, this crime, if it is demonstrated that it happens, it has a penalty of prison of up to 12 years,” he said in Channel N.
He also clarified that the construction made by Acuña is not in the declaration of factories, where there is talk of a two -story construction and not three.
“In this case we had to enter the house to withdraw people, today we have recovered 100 square meters of that property, 63 square meters are missing that the congressman apparently resists delivering,” Bruce said.
“We are going to go to the judge and authorize us to enter with the public force to be able to demolish; the other option is that the congresswoman enters reason, to see that her property is registered in public records and does not recognize that she owns that piece of property, that helps us and collaborates to recover the public space,” concluded the mayor of Surco.
Some properties included in the municipal program were voluntarily delivered by their owners, while other residents chose to initiate legal procedures before the Judiciary or wait for the direct action of the District Authority.
