The National Institute for Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep) published, this Friday (3), the new edition of the booklet The essay of Enem 2025 – participant’s booklet. 
The publication brings important information, such as the test evaluation criteria (reference matrix) and commented samples of newsrooms that have taken high notes in Enem 2024, which can serve as an example for new participants.
Enem’s writing in Portuguese will be applied on the first day of tests on November 9. The note varies from 0 to 1 thousand points and will obey the exam reference matrix, presented in the participant’s booklet.
Essay
In Enem’s newsroom, participants will need to write a dissertative-argumentative text, with up to 30 lines, from the proposed problem situation, motivating texts and knowledge built throughout the formation.
The booklet explains that the theme of the essay will be social, scientific, cultural or political order.
The text project, with information, facts and opinions related to the proposed theme, should defend a point of view – an opinion on the proposed theme -, supported by consistent, structured arguments with coherence.
In practice, Enem’s writing is more than a simple exposure of ideas. The candidate clearly assumes a point of view. To this end, the ENEM participant should select, organize and relate, also in a cohesive way, the arguments and facts for the defense of his point of view.
Additionally, the candidate should also elaborate a proposal for social intervention (solution) to the problem presented in the development of the text. This proposal must respect human rights. Proposals that disrespect human rights will receive zero grade. They are disrespectful to human rights proposals that, for example, incite people to violence or have racist references.
Participants should be aware of the five skills that will be required in the text:
- Domain of the formal written modality of the Portuguese language;
- Application of concepts from various areas of knowledge, also called sociocultural repertoire, are related to the proposed theme to develop the dissertative-argumentative text in prose.
- Organization of information, facts and arguments in defense of a point of view;
- Knowledge of the linguistic mechanisms necessary for the construction of the argument;
- intervention proposal (solution) to the problem addressed.
Only the newsrooms transcribed to the official ENEM test official will be corrected.
Each writing will be corrected by two brokers, with a degree in letters or linguistics, independently, without knowing the note awarded by the other.
Brokers will assign a note from 0 to 200 points at each of the five skills. The sum of these points makes up the total grade awarded by evaluator, which can reach 1,000 points. The participant’s final grade will be the arithmetic average between the total notes attributed by the two evaluators.
In 2026, on a date to be disclosed later, the participant may have access to the view of his writing test, exclusively, for pedagogical purposes, after the result of the result, scheduled for January next year.
Grade
Among the criteria provided for in edict of Enem 2024 that result in the zero note in the newsroom, are:
- escape to the proposed theme;
- absence of text on the writing sheet;
- Insufficient text, with up to seven handwritten lines;
- Predominantly or fully written text in a foreign language;
- name, signature, heading or any other form of identification, anywhere in the writing sheet;
- disobedience to the dissertative-argumentative structure;
- And disrespect for the seriousness of the exam, with profanity, drawings and other purposeful forms of annulment.
Newsrooms
For the booklet, Inep selected and commented on some essays from students from the five regions of the country that received good grades in the 2024 edition of Enem for meeting the requirements regarding the five skills.
These essays contain mostly sociocultural repertoires pertinent to the proposed discussions, especially argumentative coherence, especially with regard to the selection of the sociocultural repertoire.
In these texts, were mentioned, for example, thinkers, historical facts, lyrics of songs, musical bands, all articulated with the theme.
Because they are texts of the dissertative-argumentative type, the selected newsrooms have organized in the text the defense of a point of view and also stand out for the proposals for solving the problem presented in the proposal of the essay.
ENEM 2025
A total of 4,811,338 candidates confirmed the registration for the National High School Exam this year. According to the Ministry of Education, the number represents an increase of 11.22% compared to last year and 38% compared to 2022.
Enem 2025 tests will be applied on November 9th and 16th, almost all over the country. The exceptions are the municipalities of Belém, Ananindeua and Marituba, Pará, due to the 30th Conference of the parties of the United Nations Convention on Climate Change (COP30), in Belém, from November 10 to 21.
In the three cities of Pará, the candidates will take the tests on November 30 and December 7.
