Local authorities argue that return dynamics decreased compared to previous years.

The director of the INM, Wilson Paz, stressed that the monthly average of returnees is between 2,700 and 3,000.

The official said that at that rate, 2025 will close with around 40,000 deportations, compared to 58,000 reported in 2023 and 44,000 in 2024.

He also said that Hondurans’s arrests on the southern border of the United States fell considerably.

While in 2021 the US immigration authorities captured 320,000 Honduran citizens, last year that data fell to less than 100,000 people, a fall of around 60 %. Most of the intercepted are repeat offenders, he said.

Through the program Sister, brother returns homethe Castro administration tries to guarantee a dignified and productive economic and social reintegration of migrants.

The Executive gives each person returned an initial bonus of 100 dollars for food, and then another 1,000 so that they can undertake an economic activity that generates income.
