Five days after six months after the tragedy of the Jet Set disco, which occurred on Tuesday, April 8 of this year, the case has not exceeded the investigation phase by the Public Ministry.
At the moment, little is known about the course of this process that is in charge of a team of investigators of the Attorney General’s Office.
In that interim, the brothers Antonio and Maribel Espaillat, main accused, asked the judge control of the case, Amaury Martínez, of the Third Court of the National District Instruction, the realization of a new expertise.

To date, it is the only movement that the case has had in justice almost six months after the event, which is waiting for the accusing body to decide if it will present accusation against the accused.
Deadlines
The Public Ministry has in the deadline until December to submit the accusation before Judge Martínez, since the case was declared complex.
In case of that declaration, if there are no detained persons, the Public Ministry has six months to submit accusation, time that begins to run from the imposition of the coercion measure.
In the archive of the Espaillat brothers, the coercion measure was imposed on June 19, which forces in legal terms that the Public Ministry presents accusation no later than December.
If not, Judge Martínez would have to intimidate him to present such accusation within a period determined by the judge, or otherwise the extinction of the criminal action would be declared.
Judge Martínez is pending to decide the request of the defendants, that a new expertise is made.
Request
The request includes that the analysis is carried out by the engineer José Lockward, who as they said, is a specialist in soil behavior, structural risks and evaluations of social impact events.
The accused requested that load tests be executed to the beams that did not fall and other studies or analysis on the composition of the soil.
Harold Aybar, a lawyer for some victims, explained that the request is part of what is allowed by the criminal procedural law, although he claimed that the accused seek to strengthen their defense.

The morning of April 8, during a night enlivened by the Ruby Pérez meringue, the roof of the Jet Set disco collapsed, leaving a balance of 236 dead, including the artist, and 184 wounded. The relatives of the victims criminally and civilly acted against the owners of the fun center, claiming that there was carelessness in the maintenance of the work, located on Independence Avenue of the National District. For several days, rescue organisms from the country worked to get surviving and deceased debris.
