Abinader heads older adult awards and protector of the aging person

Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader, together with the first lady Raquel Arbaje, He headed this Friday the sixth edition of the Annual Prize “Protector of the aging person” and “Elderly”which recognizes altruism and dedication of older adults during the year.

The older adult award was awarded to the teacher Josefina Miniño, For the merit of being an example of an example of inspiration for active and participatory older adults, tireless in his outstanding work as a teacher, dancer and choreographer, sharing his successes, experiences and knowledge accumulated throughout his years with all generations, delivering what he knows how to do with passion and love, dancing.

While, the protective prize of the aging person, was awarded to Sor Agripina Acosta, Director of the House of Elderly The Blessed Trinity, for having developed for 57 years an outstanding reception work, with love to the elderly older adults to assist and care for them in the construction of a full and participatory existence, building their well -being and contributing to their quality of life in a decent stay in their advanced adults.

These awards constitute a tribute of the nation to their older adults. The prize “Protector of the aging person” distinguishes the institution whose solidarity commitment becomes an example of service, while the prize “Elderly of the year” honor that man or woman who, with his testimony of effort, values, overcoming and moral reference, exalts the greatness of this stage of life.

Importance of honoring and protecting older adults

During the act, the Executive Director of the National Council of the aging person (CONAPE), Demetrio Antonio Vicente Ureña, highlighted the importance of honoring and protecting older adults, highlighting their leading role in society and thanked President Luis Abinader, for the support provided to the institution he directs, ensuring that his management strengthens the institutional mission of guaranteeing that each person Respected, listened and valued.

The official stressed that, under the motto proclaimed this year by the United Nations, “the age people promote local and world action: our aspirations, our well -being and our rights”, the National Council of the aging person reaffirms their commitment to the dignity, protection and well -being of our older adults.

“Aging people are seed and root of our history. They have been teachers, guides, protectors and tireless workers. Today more than ever we must recognize that they are not only memory, but also present active, citizens with dreams, aspirations and rights that we must guarantee in each public policy,” he said.

Josefina Miniño, expressed her deep thanks for recognition, which described as a testimony to the value of her efforts, dedication and delivery throughout her life and added that, with this award she wants to remember that age is not a limit, and that being an active older adult represents the highest rank that life gives: the great opportunity to continue growing and contributing to society.

“This award honors me, yes, it honors me, not only for my personal achievements, but also because of the legacy of inspiration that I want to leave the new generations. This distinction sorry and I receive it as a stimulus to continue with the same passion and delivery,” he said.

Likewise, Sor Agripina expressed his thanks to President Abinader for commitment to put the human being in the center of public policies and the first lady Raquel Arbage for his tenderness and delivery in social causes and said that they receive this award with immense gratitude this award.

In the event, a minute of silence was paid in honor of María Cristina Camilo, first radio broadcaster and television presenter of the Dominican Republic.

The administrative ministers of the Presidency, Andrés Bautista and Public Health Víctor Atallah accompanied President Abinader.
