The Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, spread an energetic statement to denounce and condemn the military approach perpetrated by the Israeli occupation forces against the Fleeta de la Libertad, an action that the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela describes as a “cowardly piracy” executed in international waters.
“This act exposes, once again, the criminal nature of the Zionist regime» by attacking a civil and peaceful mission whose sole purpose was to deliver five thousand 500 tons of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, which, they assure, is subject to hunger and extermination, ”says the document.
It also asserts that the blockade of humanitarian aid is a “deliberate war tool” and “the continuation of genocide by other means”, with the aim of annihilating the population by starvation to complement the “indiscriminate bombings.”
The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry expressed indignation in the face of the justification of the attack by Israel: “It is miserable and grotesque that those who perpetrate televised ethnic cleaning dare to qualify as ‘threat to security’ to ships loaded with food and hope.”
Through the letter, the National Government affirms that “the only true threat to world peace is Zionism,” to which it calls “colonialist and apartheid ideology that systematically violates international law and human decency.” In that sense, it extends its “unwavering solidarity to the heroic Palestinian people and with the brave men and women” of the flotilla that risked their safety.
