Lizandro Raygal Cangalaya, 48, was sentenced to nine years in effective prison for repeatedly assaulting his parents of 71 and 67 years in the province of Jauja. The case was resolved by the First Unipersonal Court, after confirming that the victims suffered physical and psychological violence for several years, being the last fact reported in January this year.

According to the investigations, the attacks occurred mainly when the defendant was drunk. Even on more than one occasion he used forceful objects to hit their parents, who for fear or dependence came to retract in some previous complaints.

During the trial, the defendant’s defense tried to argue that he suffered a disease, but did not present sufficient evidence. With the evidence gathered, the judge determined that there were clear aggravating aggravants in his conduct and issued the effective prison sentence.
