Mexico/Brazil. After Israel intercepts ships of the Global Sumud flotilla with help for Gaza, the countries of origin of the activists expressed their concern.
From Mexico, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, demanded the immediate repatriation of the six national nationals.
“We know that at this time they are in the port of Ashdod. Consular support has not yet been able to enter, what the Israeli authorities say is that they will take them to a detention center. Our consulate is there to support them and we demand that they immediately be repatriated,” he said.
The Brazilian government condemned the interception of the flotilla, in which 15 of its citizens were traveling, and pointed out that the security of the detainees “becomes Israel’s responsibility.”
Israel ensures repatriation
Israel said that the members of the flotilla are safe and informed that in the next few days they will be returned to their countries of origin.
“The participants of the Flotilla, including six Mexican citizens, were transferred to the port of Ashdod and subsequently taken to a detention center in Ketziot, where they are healthy and saved,” said the Israeli embassy in Mexico. (With information from Arturo Rojas)
