Singer Milton Nascimento, 82, was diagnosed with dementia, revealed his son Augusto Nascimento, on his Instagram profile.
He stated that different behaviors began to be noted at the end of last year, but nothing that was alarming. Over time, however, the changes were accentuating. “Parkinson, diagnosed in 2022, advancing, and the small activities of everyday life suffering impact.”
Augusto reveals that he made a motorhome trip with his father in May. “We ran approximately 4,000 km, I always drove with him by my side of co -pilot and choosing the songs – just as we always made our good trips around the world. Somehow, I knew that trip would be a farewell to these moments,” said his son, noting that, within the limitations, Milton had a lot of fun and used to say that “had been the best trip of his life.”
Back in Brazil, Augusto says he was on a job trip when he was forced to rush home. Milton needed support because of dehydration, the result of the difficulty he has had to take liquid and feed.
“From now on, we entered a Russian mountain, and absolutely everything changed extremely quickly: then came the hard diagnosis of dementia,” said the son.
“Our dialogues, since then, have been silent or a little confused. My father calls me and tries to talk to me, but can not always express herself. The numerous calls every time I travel to work, no longer, even curiosity for good gossip, or waiting anxious for every time I return home with a T -shirt, or curiosity. Platter of asking me if I had beaten everyone around the turns of Jiu-Jitsu training, “said Augusto.
In an interview with Piauí magazine, Augusto revealed that his father’s diagnosis, after various examinations and clinical tests, is dementia by Lewy bodies (DCL), a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by decline in thought, movement, behavior, cognition and humor functions. DCL is the third most common type of dementia and has symptoms similar to those of Alzheimer’s evil and, as regards motor issues, to Parkinson.
