At a debate, the five -year budget of the National Government is in debate and where there are no money assignments for the development of the University of the Republic in the interior of the country, the new rector of the Udelar made on Wednesday the first visit to the department.
The highest authority of the High House of Studies has the expectation that in the parliamentary debate can be achieved that allow to see a better future for university education.
“For the university, intendencies are always a very important actor, a very strong partner, therefore, we hope to develop this link with the intention of Cerro Largo” He stressed Professor Héctor Cancela.
“In relation to the budget, we are in conversations with the political parties. This issue has also been spoken in the different departments that we have visited in the intendances. The university makes a proposal for the development of the interior that is great, which is powerful. In particular here for Cerro Largo it is expected to be able to have a headquarters and also reinforce the team of teachers, technicians, administrative and service personnel” detailed.
“We are with a concern because the Executive Power project (Budget) In principle it provides 0 weight for the interior. It seems to us that this is very inconvenient and generates difficulties for development ” The rector of the University of the Republic said.
It considers that this situation can be reversed in the national parliament and that they will finally end up assigning funds that will allow the development of the interior. “We know that the intendencies have their links at the parliamentary level therefore we believe that they can also help us in that. In the possibility of the future headquarters, we also hope that the intention is a strategic partner and collaborate with that project.” said.
