Santo Domingo. – The president Luis Abinader highlighted the diplomatic success reached with The conversion of the multinational mission of support support in Haiti (MSS) into a “Gang suppression force”composed of 5,500 troops.
“The Dominican Republic is proud to have contributed to this effort and will continue working to promote peace and stability in the region,” said the president in a message.

Abinader celebrated that the UN Security Council will listen to the Dominican claim on the INEFICACY OF THE MSSapproving a new resolution that creates this specialized force. “We will work for an accelerated transition from the MSS to the new gang suppression force in Haiti and give a close monitoring to that process,” he emphasized.
The president stressed that Dominican diplomacy performed a Key paper in the leadership of a group of allies committed to security in Haiti and the region. In addition, he recognized the collaboration of the former presidents Leonel Fernández, Hipólito Mejía and Danilo Medinawho signed a joint letter addressed to the fifteen members of the UN Security Council.

The new force will be directed and funded by UN experts, with a solid mandate to establish order and safety In Haiti, under political supervision. Logistics and operation will be carefully planned to guarantee the effectiveness of the mission.
Abinader stressed that this step represents a decisive advance towards social, political and economic stabilitynot only for Haiti, but for the entire region, and reaffirmed the Dominican government’s commitment to guarantee effective implementation of what was agreed with his allies.
