Bahía Solano, One of the most representative tourist destinations of the Colombian Pacific, was the scene of two recent tragedies that have generated shock in the region. In less than a week, the community had to face the loss of three people for drowning at El Almejal beach.

On September 29, three people lost their lives after being dragged by a current on the El Almejal beach, located in the El Valle district. The victims were identified as Edinson Palacios Mosquera and two young people from Medellín: Nicolás Fernández and Ana María Salazar.
The authorities also reported the disappearance of a fourth person, whose search continues by relief agencies.


According to witness testimonies, the group of tourists entered the sea during a high tide without noticing the strength of the currents, common situation at this time of year.
Despite the efforts of local rescuers and fishermen, they only managed to recover three bodies. The Valley community especially regretted the loss of Palacios, who was very dear for his work as a tourist promoter and environmental defender.
What happened in Bahía Solano reflects the urgency of implementing comprehensive strategies that include safety, accident prevention and strengthening of the social fabric.
