He Senate of the Republic ratified the designation of Alejandro Encinas Rodríguez as an extraordinary ambassador to represent Mexico before the Organization of American States (OAS).
With 79 votes in favor, one against and 10 abstentions, the legislators of the upper house endorsed the proposal raised by the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum.
After the vote, Encinas Rodríguez gave protest to the president of the Senate of the Republic, Laura Itzel Castillo Juárez, who in the name of the Senate wished him success in his new commission.
The president of the Senate Foreign Relations CommissionAlejandro Murat Hinojosa, highlighted the importance of this position, by arguing that the international body is formed by 35 independent states of the Americas and whose objective is to achieve an order of peace and justice, promote its solidarity, strengthen its collaboration and defend its sovereignty, its territorial integrity and its independence.
