Artigas de Fútbol Children will honor Elías “Mono” Denis

The Child Soccer Artigas Board of Directors will remember who almost 50 years ago, more specifically in 1977, refused this discipline within the Albirroja institution.

The recognition of Heber Elías “Mono” Denis Rodríguez will be held next Saturday, October 4 from the 17th hour in the sports complex located in the east of the city of Melo.

“We have been planning it for a long time and this Saturday we will realize it. For that we are inviting all the fans of Artigas, those generations that began in children’s football with the monkey Denis, to the family and friends of other institutions. This act will be done on the Artigas court,” confirmed Gabriel Billafán.

“Yes, there will always be people who deserve recognition, we believe that in this case it is very fair. Denis was the one who restarted the activity in 1977 and from there in anymore he never stopped” He stressed.

The Vice President of Artigas children’s football recalled that the Artigas court was where today is Liceo 3. In the early 90s passed to the other side of the Cañada.

“We continue to grow. In these two years that we have been, the playing field was bet a lot. Improve the training court and at the same time place some games for children on one side and on the other side build a soccer and basketball field next to physical exercises devices ” advanced to THE PROFESSIONAL RADIO.

The area was reforested with the planting of 30 trees that in a short time will offer abundant shadow for the hot summer afternoons. “Except for the main court, the rest will be public use” held.

At the time, the architect Duarte developed a much more ambitious project, but that exceeds the economic possibilities of the institution. “We believe that together with the Intendance and with some other institutions we could carry it forward” assured.

9 Categories in competition

More than 150 children are competing with the Albirroja blouse in the championships organized by the Melense Football League. “We are one of the few institutions that has the 9 categories” Billafán revealed during the live interview on Tuesday, September 30.

“We must walk, on average, in the 18 children by category” estimated. “The one that has less today is the 2012 that is the last category. As in lower, it is the one with the least children, in the environment of the 12. Then the rest have more. There are categories that are passed in the number of players. In 2016 there are more than 20” He stressed.

The number of applicants decreases

“We start training with children Generation 2020 to adapt and the subject is complicated” He warned. “We have only 10 children” He said about a situation that is affecting other clubs in the same way.

The descent in birth, which is even affecting the educational system, can be one of the determining factors in poor assistance.

“When we hear that there are fewer children in infants, we deduce that this moves to children’s football. Another thing, now many parents also opt for other activities for their children, which is not bad, but that the amount of potential soccer practitioners low Gabriel Billafán, president of Artigas SC of Children’s Soccer.
