News Colombia.
A woman was sentenced to 33 years and 3 months in prison for the murder of her daughter of only two years, a fact that shocked Villa Garzón on August 8, 2020.
According to the investigation, the woman, belonging to an indigenous shelter, took advantage of the fact that her husband had left hunting and began playing with the little girl. However, what seemed a moment of closeness ended in tragedy. According to the Attorney General’s Office, the mother covered the head of the girl with a plastic bag and forced her to ingest liquor.
The opinion of the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences was decisive: the child died from acute respiratory failure and also presented signs of first degree breathalyzer. After what happened, the woman moved her lifeless daughter to a room, she laid her on a mat and went to rest to another room.
The work of judicial police and the technical evidence collected during the process confirmed that it was an aggravated homicide, so a judge fought arrest warrant against women to fulfill the penalty in a penitentiary center.
The sentence, which has already been firm, ends a judicial process that generated rejection among its community.
