New platform reaches the pre-salt and can increase production by 20%

Petrobras’ P-78 P-78 ship arrived on Tuesday (30) to the field of Buzios, in the pre-salt of the Campos Basin, 180 kilometers from the coast of Rio de Janeiro. The information was released by the state -owned company.New platform reaches the pre-salt and can increase production by 20%

The structure was departed from Singapore, in Southeast Asia, on July 13. THE Platform ship is from the FPSO model (Floating Production Storage and Offloading, in Portuguese, floating production, storage and transfer unit), with production capacity of 180,000 barrels of oil, as well as compressing 7.2 million cubic meters (m³) of daily gas.

The P-78 will be the seventh platform to produce oil in the field of Buzioswho, according to Petrobras’s director of exploration and production, Sylvia Anjos, “surpassed the daily production of 900,000 barrels of oil.” Thus, the new FPSO could increase daily production by up to 20%.

In addition to the P-78, they operate in Buzios the P-74, P-75, P-76, P-77, Admiral Barroso and Admiral Tamandaré platforms.

To anticipate the beginning of the operation, the transportation of the P-78 since Asia had the Brazilian crew already shipped, which advanced procedures and training of the team. This allows you to anticipate the beginning of production in about two weeks.

The last time the Petrobras He adopted the practice of transporting the crew was in 1999.

The next pre-operation steps are the platform anchor and interconnection service with oil wells, which should take approximately two months.

The P-78 hull was built in shipyards in Yantai and Hayang cities in China, and Ulsan, South Korea. The blocks were integrated in South Korea before they went to Singapore, where the modules were set up, including one built on the Seatrium shipyard (former Brasfels) in Angra dos Reis, Litoral Fluminense.

Pre-salt

According to the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), the sector regulatory body, pre-salt production corresponds to about 80% of the total oil and gas produced in Brazil.

Discovered in 2006, the pre-salt contributed to the energy sovereignty of Brazil, allowing the country to remain without the need to import oil. In addition to high productivity, wells store a light oil, considered of excellent quality and with high commercial value.

The beginning of production was in the jubarte field, located in the Campos Basin, Southeast Coast, in 2008. Next to the Santos Basin, this is where the reservoirs are perforated at a depth of 5,000 to 7 thousand meters.
