The prosecutor José Domingo Pérez He assured that the Prosecutor’s Office will ask the Judicial Branch that the mayor of Lima, Rafael López Aliagaparticipate as a witness in the oral trial against the former metropolitan mayor Susana Villarán.
According to the member of the Special Lavo Jato team, the petition is given under the figure of “New Test” and that this occurs before the recent presentation of López Aliaga before the Prosecutor’s Office for toll concessions.
In that sense, he pointed out that the burgomaster presented a letter in which he asks the Public Ministry to “adopt certain measures in relation (a) the tolls that correspond to the concession of Lima routes.”
“From what the mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima (s) is presenting that has to be heard by the judges who are judging the case of Mrs. Susana Villarán,” he said in RPP.
Pérez considers that the information that López Aliaga contributes to the Prosecutor’s Office is “useful” and “relevant.”
The Prosecutor’s Office has requested 29 years in prison against Susana Villarán for alleged crimes related to the illicit contributions of Brazilian construction companies Odebrecht and OAS. These funds, which would exceed 11 million dollars, would have been destined to finance their campaign against the revocation in 2013 and its re -election in 2014.
The former mayor denied the accusations during the second day of the oral trial against her and assured that she will seek to refute “one by one the charges.”
