President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo appointed Alejandro Encinas representative of Mexico before the Organization of American States (OAS), confirmed diplomatic sources.
The former head of the Commission for Truth and Access to Justice for the Ayotzinapa (Covaj) case, which knocked down the call Historical truth Created in Enrique Peña Nieto’s sexennium on the disappearance of the 43 normalists, he will replace Ambassador Luz Elena Baños, who represented our country before the regional agency since May 31, 2019.
The appointment was sent to the Senate through the Ministry of the Interior. The Board of Directors turned the matter to the Foreign Relations Commission, to which Encinas will appear today. Once the opinion is approved, it will pass to the plenary.
Currently, Encinas is the head of the Ministry of Planning, Territorial Planning and Metropolitan Coordination, in the Government of Clara Brugada.
Left man, he is a graduate of the Faculty of Economics of the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
He has occupied various positions in the public service. He was a federal and senator deputy. In the capital’s capital governments he collaborated with Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas and Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
The Chief of the Executive also sent two other designations to international positions to be analyzed by the Senate: Laura Elena Carrillo for representative of Mexico to the United Nations Organization for Food and Agriculture, and of Mexico’s Ambassador to Brazil, to Carlos Eugenio García de Alba, a career diplomat.
