The municipality of Jamundí begins to write a new page in terms of sustainable mobility. More than 120 taxi drivers from this town, along with colleagues from Cali, Yumbo and Palmiraparticipated in the Great Electric Mobility Fair for Taxis, an event led by the Ministry of Transportation that It seeks to boost the transition to more environmentally friendly vehicles.
During the day, The destination of 12.8 billion pesos was socialized from the Fund for the Promotion of Technological Ascent, Fopat, resources that will be focused on supporting vehicles and facilitating drivers access to clean technologieslike electric taxis.

“For us it is a pride that the municipality is an epicenter of this great electric mobility fair that brings taxi drivers to new technologies. This is a decisive step towards the modernization of transport, with economic, environmental and social benefits for the entire region”, Explained the Secretary of Mobility and Road Safety of Jamundí, Néstor Lasso Viveros.
The program contemplates incentives and financial benefits that will allow the guild to modernize its fleet, reducing polluting emissions and improving user experience.

“Our commitment is to protect life, relieve workers’ pocket and reduce pollution. With facts, not with speeches, we demonstrate that individual public transport can be cleaner, more fair and more profitable ”he said.
Electric taxis will have legal and operational advantages: They will not be subject to peak and plaque or a day without a car, they will receive 10% discount on the SOAT and 30% in the mechanical technical review. With these incentives, the bet seeks to accelerate migration to this new form of mobility.
