The chairman of the INSS Parliamentary Commission (CPMI) of the INSS, Senator Carlos Viana (Somos-MG), criticized on Monday (29) the opinion of the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) for the filing of the process opened against economist Rubens Oliveira Costa, after being detained for a false testimony in a statement to the committee. Viana said she will keep the decision to arrest the economist.
On Monday, during the opening of the committee meeting that investigates the diversion of retirees and pensioners, Carlos Viana said that he was informed of the PGR demonstration claiming that the entrepreneur had attended CPMI as investigated, not witness, and was therefore not a legal commitment to have to tell the truth.
“This CPMI is sovereign in the performance of functions, we conduct the investigations and define who is witness and who is investigated, and we will follow all work with absolute firmness and transparency. The collegiate has clarity of his role. We are here to investigate responsibilities, separate those involved and bring the truth to Brazilian society. No external decision alters the course of our works. Brazilian Constitution, ”said the parliamentarian.
Senator Carlos Viana also stated that he asked the Senate law to file an appeal against the closing of the inquiry against Oliveira Costa.
“Regarding investigations, CPMI is autonomous and has independence in the investigation, those who decide their direction are us. When the investigation is within the Federal Police and in the inquiries that will be sent to the judiciary, the Attorney can be very peaceful, because there is the correct forum for it. But here in parliament, we have their own rules of work and independence to perform our duties.”

CPMI rapporteur of the INSS, Deputy Alfredo Gaspar (Union-AL), asked for the arrest of businessman Rubens Oliveira Costapointed out as a partner of Antonio Carlos Antunes, called Bald of the INSS, after testimony to CPMI.
Oliveira Costa was summoned to testify as a witness to the collegiate on Monday (22), when the CPMI rapporteur called for the economist’s pre-trial detention for escape risk and the commitment of new crimes and the arrest in the act for crime of documentary concealment.
Oliveira Costa was arrested at the end of his statement, but was released by the Senate Legislative Police at dawn on Tuesday (23), after clarification to the Federal Senate Police Secretariat and, according to one of his lawyers, Bernardo Coelho, was released, without even paying bail.

This Monday, CPMI will hear the testimony of the president of the National Confederation of Family Farmers and Rural Family Entrepreneurs (Conafer), Carlos Roberto Ferreira Lopes.
Confer is among the entities with the highest volume of discounts on retirees’ monthly fees, according to an investigation by the Federal Police.
CPMI rapporteur, Deputy Alfredo Gaspar, justified the unionist’s call due to the vertiginous growth of Conafer’s collection, which jumped from $ 6.6 million to more than $ 40 million, which coincides with the period in which undue discounts were intensified directly in insured’s social security benefits.
Initially the testimony of businessman Fernando dos Santos Andrade Cavalcanti was also planned, but was postponed. The president of the board said he postponed the hearing so as not to harm the work of the board. The testimony will be provided next Thursday (2).
