“Yes, we are going to rescue the initiative to push the approval where we have consensus,” announced the legislator, who said that this week will present a first initiative to stop the harassment of consumers, the issuance and delivery of credit cards to those who do not request it and then the collection of annuity by unre requested plastics and with impossibility of canceling.
Monreal Ávila stated that the changes are proposed to the Law on Transparency and Access to Public Information and Protection of Personal Data, in addition to financial services regulations on cancellation and issuance of credit and debit cards issued by financial entities.
“That is, first that the person’s privacy is respected. If you do not request a card, they do not have to send you credit cards. And if you have not requested those plastics less can charge you for the use or not use, or less they can penalize you.
“Then, the initiative that I am going to present tomorrow or the past is to prohibit harassment and that financial, banking and credit institutions, send you cards and then charge them and you cannot cancel them.
“There will be penalties for those who, being financial institutions, do not comply with the law. This affects millions of people, including me. Because I did not ask for credit cards and they arrive without having requested it and then charge me annuities and if I do not pay me and penalize me. And they send me to the credit bureau.”
Monreal Ávila stressed that this is “a clear initiative to defend the banking user.”
A express question about a controversial initiative that Monreal presented in November 2018, just one month after the triumph of Morena in the cameras and in the presidency with Andrés Manuel López Obrador, but that by the controversy he was frozen, the Morenista said he will resume.

“It is necessary that there is a deliberative process that gives certainty to the savers, to give certainty to the citizens, and I hope we can find in this legislative process, it chairs the different initiatives that have been presented,” said the legislator.
“It seems to me that it is forced that this discussion is prioritized to Mexican families; it is evident that there are international collection standards, of commissions that, of course, should also materialize here in our country, because today in Mexico we are talking about 60 million Mexicans who are already subject to this banking system,” he said.
