The third death in Greater São Paulo on suspicion of consumption of methanol-contaminated beverages was confirmed on Monday (29) by the São Bernardo do Campo City Hall. This is the second fatal case in the city. Another death was recorded in capital.
By the Note of the São Bernardo City Hall, a 45 -year -old man died on Saturday (27) after being attended to a private hospital. Another man died on September 24, after attendance at the city’s Emergency Hospital.
Also according to the note, the city’s Forensic Medical Institute is investigating whether the cause of deaths was actually methanol contamination.
Already the City of São Paulo, through the Health Surveillance Coordination (Covisa), of the Municipal Health Secretariat, said in a statement that it is monitoring the poisoning scenario.

According to the city, the professionals of the Poison Control Center (CCI-SP) are oriented to recognize of signs and symptoms, “aiming at diagnoses and rapid treatment, as well as notification of suspicious cases.”
The city reported that this year were registered 14 suspected cases of methanol poisoning after the consumption of adulterated drink. The death recorded in the city was a 54 -year -old man from the Mooca region, killed on the 15th of this month.
