The Zurich insurance group based in Switzerland, has more than 150 years of experience, and with presence in more than 200 countries. More than 40 years ago he is in Latin America and in 2025 he turns 10 in Colombia.
Nicolás Marchant, president in Colombia spoke with Portafolio.
How has Zurich gone this year?
In the first semester, the group reported record results reaching our best moment and positioning us as the number one multinational insurer in sales in Latin America.
In Zurich Colombia we look to the future with the conviction of becoming a leading market reference.
We want to be recognized as an insurer who transforms the experience of our clients and allies through innovative, simple and close solutions, with a positive impact on the community, and the seal of growing in digital to provide a better service, maintaining human treatment. Our DNA is summarized in two words: digital, but humans.

The balance in 2024?
We reach $ 680,854 million in premiums issued. We had more than 655,000 clients, 12% above 2023.
What differentiates them from other insurers?
Nobody wants to go through an incident. These are moments of great anguish and in Zurich we understand how important it is to accompany closely. Therefore, 9 out of 10 calls at #723 are treated in less than 20 seconds, we have tripled the amount of claims we pay before 48 hours, we are transforming the insurance language into the client’s language, and we move forward in empathy training, where at the group level more than 26,000 collaborators work more than 46,000 hours a year to put ourselves in the place of customers.
We work intensely in our brand ‘more to make sure you, we care about you’.

How do reforms value to the health, pension and labor system value?
We know that reforms can have an impact on our industry. But we adapt to different contexts and laws in the countries where we operate. We see a long -term future in Colombia, therefore, we will continue as the strong and solid insurer we are, guaranteeing the fulfillment of our promises and the protection of the insured.
How will the 2025 end?
It has been a challenging year both in the local context and in global markets and trends, where we highlight the impact that artificial intelligence in all industries is having.
We see a growing interest of people and businesses for greater protection. Zurich will continue to consolidate its strategy under the “digital, but human” premise, advancing in digital transformation with artificial intelligence and new technological tools.

We will allocate US $ 17 million to strengthen three strategic pillars that integrate the digital and the human: technology, looking for simple experiences, experiences of experience and talent, with hiring.
“For people we offer vehicle insurance, housing, unemployment, leases and more and for companies protection for employees, assets, and a differentiated focus on cybersecurity.”
