The 19th edition of CineBH – Belo Horizonte International Film Festival – announced, on Sunday night (28), the winners of the territory show and the award -winning projects in Brazil Cinemundi – 16th International Coproduction Meeting. The closing ceremony was at Cine-Theatro Brasil, in the center of the capital of Minas Gerais.
The best film award from the territory show was granted to Quemadura ChinaUruguayan production directed by Verónica Perrotta. They were also recognized Chicharras (Mexico), by Luna Marán, with the best presence award; Huaquero (Peru), by Juan Carlos Donoso Gómez, with highlighting the jury in assembly; and Punku (Peru), by Juan Daniel Fernández Molero, winner of the Abraccine Award.
Programming Highlights
Over the course of six days, Cinebh has exhibited 101 national and international titles, reinforcing the plurality and diversity of contemporary cinema. Among the highlights, was the exhibition of The secret agentby Kleber Mendonça Filho, chosen to represent Brazil in the dispute for Oscar 2026.
Films developed in Cinemundi’s laboratories also drawn attention, as The nature of invisible thingsdebut in feature films of Brazilians Rafaela Camelo, who thrilled the audience in session with applause. The camel film had its world premiere at the Berlin Festival Generation show, and received several international awards this year.
Director José Eduardo Belmonte presented the premiere of Assault on the Brazilianinspired by real facts from the late 1980s. In an interview with Agência Brasil, Belmonte pointed out that the work seeks to portray “a time of hopelessness and loss of faith in the country”, marked by uncontrolled inflation and the beginning of redemocratization.
Brazil Cinemundi
Parallel to the exhibitions, Brazil Cinemundi has rewarded projects under development, reaffirming its vocation as a space for co -production and fostering new voices of cinema.
The official jury, formed by Luana Melgaço, Jorge Cohen and Juliette Lepourre, chose Mangrove daughtersby Stella Carneiro (AL), as winner. According to the jurors, the project stood out for its originality and the ability to articulate intimate experiences with reflections on environmental preservation, regional inequalities and youthful irreverence.

The Focus Minas Award was with Rod (MG), by Matheus Moura.
Among the most celebrated projects, You? Mother? (RJ), by Daniel Gonçalves and Nathalia Santos, won three distinct awards (DocBrasil, Connect and DocSp), being recognized for the aesthetic force and the potential to make the staff universal.

Diamond, the dancer (SP), by Pedro Jorge – MAFF/Paradiso Project.
The Plastic Movies Collective also allocated a special prize to Bright (MG), by Carol Silva and Karen Suzane, for the relevance LGBTQIAPN+.
Plural and Awarded Cinema
With free programming, the 19th CineBH reaffirmed its position as one of the main cinematic meetings in Brazil, valuing both the international circulation of films and the emergence of new voices in the country.
