Juliana López’s story is one of those that mark a before and after in the life of a family. The model, footballer and presenter Antioquia was arrested in 2015 at the Guangzhou International Airport, China, when he was barely 21 years old. The authorities found 610 grams of hidden cocaine on a laptop, a fact that changed their destination forever.
In that country, the laws against drug trafficking are among the strictest in the world, with sanctions that can reach the life imprisonment or death penalty. However, the messages found in Juliana’s cell phone, in which threats against her and her family were evidenced if she did not agree to transport the drug, were decisive to be issued a sentence of 15 years in prison and not a more severe penalty.
From the moment of his capture, his mother made the decision to leave everything in Colombia and move to China. There, with sacrifice, it has remained during the last decade to visit it once a month, as allowed by the regulations of that country.
Today, Juliana is 31 years old and has been in prison. According to the La Red program, of Caracol Televisión, his good behavior has opened the door to a possible early freedom in 2026, four years before completing the entire sentence. However, according to the program, the young woman does not contemplate return to Colombia when leaving prison, because she fears for her safety.
