Through a publication On its official page From Facebook the government entity acknowledged that the building did not have constructive conditions several years ago.

“People were illegally in the place, which were often offered transfers to other places, which they did not accept in a timely manner,” justifies the official note.

The tragic incident shook the Havana municipality around 9:00 am, leaving several people trapped among the debris. Although rescuers went to the scene and managed to save some of those affected, the loss of a human life is already reported.

“We regret the loss of a deceased in the incident. The authorities of the territory appeared immediately and serve the rest of the people,” says the publication.

This is not the first collapse that affects the building. Around three years ago another partial collapse in the same property also ended the life of a minor.

This new collapse on Sol Street adds to A series of structural collapses that in recent years they have hit Havana, marked by the deterioration of buildings, the shortage of construction materials and the lack of interest of the Cuban regime for giving systematic maintenance; which contrasts with the unstoppable construction of hotels.

The Government has recognized that some 1,000 homes are collapsed in the capital, a situation that has caused the death of adults and children.

The scarcity of adequate housing has led many families to live in collective shelters administered by the Government, which lack the necessary basic resources. Other people choose to return to buildings in poor condition, despite the risk of collapse, due to the bad conditions of the shelters.
