Maestro Severino Araújo is the honoree of the program Crying wheelfrom Radio MEC, this Sunday (28), at 20h, with the presence of the Freedom Big Band orchestra, which will play successes of the musician and composer Pernambuco.
Maestro for more than 71 years from Tabajara, a union that began in 1933, when he was hired by João Pessoa Radio Tabajara (PB), clarinetist Severino quickly began running the station’s orchestra.
The Pernambuco musician was one of the pioneers in the merger between elements of jazz and choro in Brazilian music. In this edition of Crying wheelFreedom Big Band presents 12 copyright songs by Severino Araújo, with transcripts made by the musician, arranger, music producer and researcher Paulo Serau.
The repertoire presented in this program includes works such as A chorinho for you, Jumpy, A chorinho in Montevideo and Oh! Tasty clarinetwhich are part of the album 12 Chorinhos by Severino Araújoreleased in 1960.
In addition, the Crying wheel Displays a Exclusive interview with Paulo Serauwho shares the challenges of recreating the arrangements of the renowned Brazilian artist.
Severino Araújo died in 2012, in Rio de Janeiro, at 95.
