Lima, Peru – The Vice Admiral of the Pedro Miguel Pérez Betancourt reserve died this Sunday in Cuba at the age of 85, official means of the Castro regime reported.

After the triumph of the Castro Revolution, a deprived of dictatorship, Pérez Betancourt entered the School of Recruit for Mariners and the Naval Academy, graduating in 1962.

Within his military career for the regime he held important responsibilities in the Revolutionary Navy as Commander of Surface Units, Chief of Coheteras Lancha Squad, Head of the Flotilla de Submarinos, Director of the Naval Academy and Head of the Central and Western Naval District.

In addition, he reached the degree of vice council and came to occupy the position of head of the Revolutionary Navy, a position he held for more than 24 years.

Her military career alternated her with studies that she developed at the FAR Academy “General Gómez”, the Naval Academy of Leningrad and the Naval Specialist Preparation Center of the Baltic Flotilla in The old Soviet block. It was part of the Cuban military that the Havana regime allocated to Syria.

“It was a picture of the revolution, which for its capacity, knowledge and experience, not only fulfilled tasks in the revolutionary armed forces, but in another institution of the country, as head of the general customs of the Republic of Cuba,” says the official note.

Pedro Miguel Pérez Betancourt was the founder of the Communist Party of Cuba, of which he was part of his central committee, and was deputy to the National Assembly of Popular Power during several legislatures.
