The Daredevils of Crime: JNJ dismisses prosecutor Abel Concha for meeting with former mayor of Chiclayo

The Plenum of the National Board of Justice () today dismissed Elio Abel Concha Calla, senior prosecutor of the Tenth Superior Criminal Prosecutor’s Office of Lima, determining that he committed a very serious offense, having met in 2018 with the then mayor of Chiclayo, David Cornejo Chinguel, investigated for leading a criminal organization.

In the presentation of Disciplinary Procedure No. 161-2020-JNJ by counselor Imelda Tumialán Pinto, her high degree of participation in the offense was proven, since in her capacity as superior prosecutor, she managed to obtain information “about an investigation for corruption that was not under his responsibility”.

Also, for having improperly used a license to meet with the local authority in Chiclayo, said Tumialán.

In this sense, the plenary session of the JNJ determined that Elio Abel Concha Calla, incurred a very serious offense provided for in art. 33, paragraph 24, of the Prosecutor Career Law, and imposed the sanction of dismissal by unanimous vote.

In November 2018, agents from the High Complexity Investigations Division and authorities from the Public Ministry arrested more than a dozen members of the criminal organization The Daredevils of Crime in the city of Chiclayo, Lambayeque region.

The criminal network is allegedly led by the former mayor of Chiclayo David Cornejo Chinguelwho was arrested and is being investigated for the crimes of corruption and collusion.

In January of this year, the Tenth Unipersonal Criminal Court Specialized in Corruption Crimes of Lambayeque Officials ordered the capture of the former mayor after sentencing him to five years and five months in effective prison for the crime of influence peddling.

The former municipal authority was released last year after completing his preventive detention. he must pay 300,000 soles to the State for civil damages and He was disqualified for 11 years from holding public office.
