The United States announced the revocation of Colombia’s president, Gustavo Petro (photo). The revocation was confirmed by the State Department’s social networks after Petro participated in a Pro-Palestinian demonstration in New York, where he witnessed the 80th General Assembly of the United Nations (UN).
“The president of Colombia was on the streets of New York and incited US soldiers to disobey the orders and led to violence. We will revoke Petro’s visa due to its recklessness and incendiary actions,” the United States government said.
During the demonstration, Petro defended the use of a global armed force to free the Palestinians from the war against Israel.
UN Immunity
This Saturday (27), Gustavo Petro returned to Colombia and commented on the revocation of his visa.
He stated that the United States does not comply with the rules of UN international law and immunity.
“I arrived in Bogota. I have no longer seen to travel to the US. I don’t care. I don’t need a visa, just one [autorização de viagem]because I’m not just a Colombian citizen, but also a European citizen, ”he said.
According to Petros, the visa was revoked for denouncing the “genocide” in Palestine. “Humanity must be free all over the world. We have the human right to live on the planet. I am free and every human being must be free on earth,” he added.
