Finance Minister Fernando Haddad considered it as “madness” parliamentarians linking the vote on the income tax exemption for those who earn up to R $ 5,000 to the amnesty appreciation to the convicts of acts of January 8, 2023.
Haddad’s statement was given in an interview with Podcast 3 Brothers on Saturday morning (27).
“It doesn’t even go through my mind that this may be being discussed, because it is crazy. Are you going to submit a social justice project, tax justice to this? It makes the discussion you want, but to tie one thing to another? Instead of being a party day, what day is your conscience in the income tax project,” he said, addressing parliamentarians.
THE Chamber of Deputies should put in voting next Wednesday (1st) the bill (PL) that exempts from IR Who earns up to $ 5,000. The matter also provides for partial tax reduction for those who receive between $ 5,000 and $ 7,350.
THE Rapporteur of the Amnesty Project, Paulinho da Força, said Last Thursday (24) that if the forgiveness to those convicted of the attempted coup d’état was not voted before the tax project, the consideration of the change in income tax would be at risk.
“Everything leads to believe that the text will be voted on Tuesday. I even think that if we do not vote, we do not vote to go,” he said.
Study of the Intersindical Department of Statistics and Socioeconomic Studies (Dieese) estimates that the change in IR can expand from 10 million to 20 million the total tax exempt workers. The partial tax reduction for those who earn up to R $ 7,300 should reach 16 million people.
Currently, it is exempt from IR who earns up to two minimum wages (R $ 3,036 per month).
Support at the end of the 6×1 scale
THE Minister of Finance said it was still in favor of the end of the 6th scale by 1project that is also under discussion in the National Congress.
Haddad stressed that people will live longer and argued that they work more years, but fewer days a week.
“Everything leads me to believe that the balance between these things will require us to work more time throughout our lives, but less days a week to enjoy life better,” he said.
“We needed to understand a way to release time for people. Today, you with young children, are working 12 hours a day, 14 hours a day. Wouldn’t you better work longer, but with free time for you?” He added.
