The executive president of the supervisory agency for private investment in telecommunications (Osiptel), Rafael Muente SchwarzHe publicly denounced that the Government seeks to dismiss him from his position through a report by the Ad Hoc Commission of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM).
As indicated, the measure responds to an attempt to “total capture of the Osiptel” and constitutes an act of persecution against him for having defended the autonomy of the regulatory agencies against the attempts of the Executive, as well as for their actions against the illegal sale of mobile lines and the blockade of cell phones linked to crimes.
Muendo explained that the disciplinary procedure against him began more than two years ago from an anonymous mail, after requested a training that, he said, had the right like any public official.

He argued that the hiring of said training was carried out complying with the State contracting law and the internal procedures of the regulator. He added that both the Comptroller General of the Republic and the Public Ministry concluded that there were no irregularities, while serving annulled a first sanction for lack of evidence.
Despite this, in May of this year the PCM reopened the case and separated it from its functions through a precautionary measure. Now, the Ad Hoc commission report recommends its dismissal, a decision that will remain in the hands of the Premier.
“They will not silence me. The truth always prevails and at some point the dark interests that are behind will come to light. I will not faint, I will continue defending me not only to enforce my rights but above all, to protect the institutionality of the Osiptel,” he said.
