THE Toyota suspended production in its units in Brazil because of a strong storm last Monday (22) which caused damage to the Porto Feliz (SP) plant, where the vehicle brand engines are produced.
Due to damage to the Porto Feliz unit, the Indaiatuba and Sorocaba factories, supplied by the Porto Feliz plant and also located in the state, interrupted the activities.
“In a first analysis, the resumption of the motor plant should take months and, considering this situation, the company is looking for alternatives to supply engines from Toyota units in other countries, with the objective of resuming vehicle production in Sorocaba (SP) and Indaiatuba (SP) plants,” said the automaker, in a statement.
With the suspension, the company said it is in dealing with workers. The proposal is the temporary suspension of the employment contract (Layoff). In such cases, the worker is without services, without receiving the full salary. The employment bond is maintained.

OS TSorocaba (SP) factory tangers will decide, at a virtual assembly of the category, starting this Friday (25), if they will accept Layoff’s proposal proposed by the company. Employees will have until the 28th to deliberate on the proposal.
The Union of Workers in Industries and Metallurgical, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic, Steel, Fused, Automobilistic, Auto Parts and Aerospace, Porto Feliz, Boituva and Cabreúva, said that the company made the commitment to keep the jobs of all Porto Feliz workers, including the guarantee of the benefits already traded.
Asked about the proposal offered, Toyota replied that “the proposals will be presented from today, to vote in the coming days and, as soon as approved, will be applied in an emergency way.”
