Aird highlights RD leadership fight against illicit trade

The Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD) highlighted the outstanding positioning of the country in the Illicit Trade Index 2025, Prepared by the International Coalition against Illicit Trade (Tracit), which places the country in the 50th position worldwide, among 158 nations evaluated and as one of the region’s referents in the fight against this scourge.

The report recognizes institutional efforts and public policies that have strengthened the national capacity to face illicit trade.

The advances include the creation and consolidation of the table of illicit, the inter -institutional coordination led by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs (MICM) and the strengthening of the specialized body of fuel control and merchandise trade. These initiatives have allowed to dismantle illegal product networks, protect the health of the population and safeguard the competitiveness of national industries.

Mario Pujols, executive vice president of the Aird, highlighted the firm commitment of the industrial sector in the fight against a scourge that affects the competition of companies, the treasury and the health of consumers.
