An event occurred in Bogotá caused a stir on social networks after a video was viralized where a SITP driver, visibly confused, was approached by the police while operating his bus. In the images, a patrol accuses him of driving under the influence of alcohol and orders him to get off the vehicle. The erratic behavior of the driver generated outrage among the users of the system, who initially believed that it was a case of irresponsibility at the wheel.

However, hours later, official evidence denied that version. The driver underwent an alcohol test that yielded negative result, discarding any liquor consumption. This information was confirmed by Transmilenio and the Mass Capital Concessionaire, responsible for the operator.

According to the statement issued by the system authorities, the man would have suffered a medical decompensation associated with a health condition, specifically an episode related to diabetes. Apparently, he presented an abrupt decrease in his glucose levels, which caused disorientation, motor slowness and confusion, symptoms that can easily be confused with the effects of alcohol.
The driver was transferred to a medical center where he received specialized care and remains under observation. By protocol, it was temporarily removed from its functions until it is guaranteed that it is in optimal conditions to drive. Transilenio also announced that the corresponding internal procedures were activated for this type of emergencies.
The worker indicated that the accusations of driving under alcohol were wrong and thanked those who worried about their state of health.
