Obliges at one month start classes

61.1% of the teachers are dissatisfied with the conditions in which they began their work in the new school year 2025-2026, according to a survey carried out by the Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP) to analyze the first month of teaching. The sample was carried out in 381 educational centers distributed in the 18 regional ones.

The study details that 56% of the participating educational centers were pending for repairs during school holidays and of them 58.9% were not renovated. To date, only 11.5% are being repaired.

The dissatisfaction of teachers at the beginning of the school year is also due to the persistence of structural problems, since 32% of the centers surveyed are in poor condition, which generates lack of classrooms, overpopulation and environments in the development of classes.

Despite the situation, the study points out that mobile classrooms have only been installed in 1.6% of the centers, despite the promise that the government made to respond simultaneously in the provinces with the highest classroom deficit.

Another of the reasons why 3.1% of the educational centers consulted could not start the new school year is due to sewage pollution that sprouts in those campuses, causing parents not to send their children until they solve the problem. It also highlights other factors such as having an educational center to initiate teaching and intervention by the Ministry of Education (MINERD) to carry out paint work, and roofing, court floors and perimeter fence in full class development.

Despite these difficulties, the study highlights the will of 95.7% of students for not losing classes, which is why they are going to other educational centers so as not to run out of teaching.

Lack of teachers in full start of classes

The sample reveals that in 49% of the educational centers there are more than 2 teachers, 64% do not have support and administrative staff and 58.7% continue with teachers’ deficit.

Not everyone is apt to implement Steam Method

88.2% of the teachers surveyed said they were not prepared in training in the Steam approach (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics), despite the fact that the government reported that 124,000 teachers have received training in that pedagogical approach.

Useful, school uniforms and textbooks

The study indicates that in 27.6% of the public schools surveyed less than 10% of the students received their uniforms and only in 47% the delivery was made to more than 90% of the students. While in 29.5% less than 10% of students have received school supplies and only 15.3% more than 90% have received them. As for the books, 30% received less than half, 23.9% have not received any, and only 8% have them complete.

Quotas

26.5 % of the students who requested the registration in the educational centers consulted still have no place for a month of having initiated the classes in the absence of resources and the option of parents for preferring centers with the extended school day.
