The Cuba government criticized on Tuesday the “attack” against the UN of the president of the United States, Donald Trumpduring the speech that he pronounced before the General Assembly of the organization.
“The attack today of President Trump against the UN represents an attack on his essence as a more universal and democratic international organism, to the purposes and principles of the letter, and to the concept of sovereign equality between the states,” wrote on his profile in X Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez.
In his controversial speech, the American president questioned the use of the UN to which he accused of not having helped him in his goal of ending wars in the world.
“What is the purpose of the United Nations? Trump wondered.“ At least for now, do they seem only to write a very energetic letter and then never follow up? They are empty words, and empty words do not solve war. The only thing that solves wars is action. ”
In addition to praising his own management and criticizing allies and rivals, the Republican criticized the support of the UN to migrants and climatic and clean energy policies, which he considered “a scam”, and even carried the difficulties he faced when using a mechanical staircase and the United Nations Teleprompter.

Also on Tuesday, the Cuban Chancellor met with his Spanish counterpart, José Manuel Albares, as part of his current United Nations agenda.
In the meeting, Rodríguez confirmed the “will” of Havana to “deepen economic-commercial and cooperation ties” with Spain, and strengthen bilateral political dialogue.
“In meeting with the Chancellor of Spain, we evaluate the state of bilateral relations and their perspectives. I expressed (ours) interest in promoting them, strengthening political dialogue at all levels,” he wrote in X.
The previous meeting between both foreign ministers took place during the XXVIII Summit of Foreign Ministers of Latin America and Spain held in the Dominican Republic in November 2021, recalls the agency EFE.

The encounter with Albares was not the only one who held the Cuban Foreign Minister yesterday. As published by himself in the networks, he also met with his counterparts from several nations, including those of Hungary, Mali and Nigeria, as well as with the president of Namibia.
In all cases, according to what has been said in the publications, Rodríguez transmitted Havana’s interest in strengthening relations with those countries, at a time when the island crosses a severe economic and energy crisis of indisputable social repercussion.
In addition, the Foreign Minister thanked Brazilian President Lula da Silva and South African Cyril Ramaphosa, his words of support to Cuba and against US sanctions, during his interventions before the General Assembly.
The sessions of the global entity will have the participation of a hundred heads of state or government, which in their bilateral interventions and meetings will address the most urgent challenges for the world, from armed conflicts and poverty to the climate crisis.
