Claudia Cardinale, one of the great divas of the cinema Italian and world, died on Tuesday at age 87.
The famous actress, recognized for her beauty and versatility, died in Nemours, near Paris, France, where she had lived for several decades, according to Press reports.
Born in 1938 in the current Tunisia, within a Sicilian family, Cardinale filmed more than one hundred films throughout her career and was one of the undisputed stars of the golden age of Italy’s cinema. In addition, he also filmed in Hollywood and in several European countries.
After working in a short film being just a teenager, he won a beauty contest in Tunisia, whose award was to travel to the Venice Festival. That would be the beginning of a dazzling race, in which MUSA would be great directors such as Luchino Visconti, Federico Fellini and Sergio Leone and captivate millions of spectators through the screen.
Among his most important films are Italian classics such as El Gatopardo and Rocco and his brothers from Visconti; Eight and a halffrom Fellini; The girl with the suitcaseof Valerio Zurlini; and Once upon a time in the westfrom Leone.

Claudia Cardinale remained active for many years – their last roles were in the last decade – in which he shared a scene with other world cinema icons. Among his male counterparts are remembered figures such as Alain Delon, Jean-Paul Belmondo, Marcello Mastroianni, Burt Lancaster, Tony Curtis, Sean Connery and John Wayne, among many others.
Winner of the Golden Lion to the film trajectory of the Venice Festival in 1993, Cardinale also made television and theater, she was a UNESCO ambassador and got involved in the defense of women’s rights and humanitarian causes.
