The 229th Ordinary Meeting of Executive Management Committee of the Foreign Trade Chamber (GECEX-CAMEX)linked to the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, approved on Tuesday (23) the tariff reduction of imports for 15 products not produced by Brazil.
According to the Committee, the products are crucial to several productive chains in the country, and contribute to the competitiveness of the national industry.
Among the items that had decreased import rate are a specific type of lithium ion battery (18% to zero rate drop); a resuscitation system by performing automatic thoracic compressions (12.6% to zero); A specific type of electric connector, for welding cables in printed circuit boards (16% to zero); and high temperability chrome-molybdenum steel tubes (14.4% to zero).

The Executive Committee also approved the renewal of national industry protection measures against import outbreaks caused by the current international conjuncture. For another 12 months, import tax increases for 30 types of chemicals, two cardboard and one tire for passenger cars.
Gecex also decided to renew trade defense measures for low -carbon planes, stainless steel plans and fresh or refrigerated garlic.
According to the committee, in the first case (low carbon laminates), the measure was renewed for products from South Korea and China.
In the second (stainless steel laminates), for China and Chinese tapeé. In the third case, for garlic imported from China – they were left out of the measure Chinese companies that committed themselves to the Brazilian government to sell the product at prices that do not compromise national competitiveness.
