The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB), said on Tuesday (23) that the Federal Government project that exempts up to $ 5,000 of Income Tax (IR) will be voted on Wednesday next week (1st). The rapporteur, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), presented his opinion on Tuesday during a meeting of the College of Leaders.
“The Chamber of Deputies will vote on Wednesday (1/10) the project of exemption of income tax (PL 1,087/25), under the rapporteur of Deputy Arthur Lira. The parliamentarian today presented his report to the College of Leaders. We will advance with balance and dialogue, working on important guidelines for Brazil,” Motta said on a social network.
Earlier, Motta had already signaled the possibility of guiding the proposal next week. “We will have a meeting of leaders where the rapporteur of the matter, Arthur Lira, will present his report at the College of Leaders and, after this presentation, we must already draw a voting schedule, so that the House can bring its position on this important theme to Brazilian society,” he said.
The text voted on the special committee that analyzed the theme in August, maintained the maximum extra rate to be charged by people who earn from R $ 1.2 million per year.
In the project, the federal government proposes that the collection of extra tax rate on the richest will compensate for the relief of the poorest tax. Progressive additional rates will affect those who earn more than $ 600,000 per year, reaching the maximum level of 10% for those who earn more than $ 1.2 million.
In addition to confirming this extra tax rate, the rapporteur raised, from $ 7,000 to $ 7.35 thousand per month, the income range to benefit from partial IR.
The bill extends the exemption of IR to those who earn up to R $ 5,000 per month and, in the original version, provided for a reduction of charge for those who earn up to R $ 7 thousand.
In August, The House approved an urgent processing for the proposal. With this, the text will enter the agenda of the plenary of the house.
