With a confrontant language during his speech before the Human Rights Council, Venezuela’s ambassador to the UN, Alexander Yánez Deleuze, said that the reports of the mission “have nothing to do” with the situation of Humanness but with a “regime change policy” that, he insisted, maintains the United States and his allies over the country

The representation of Venezuela before the United Nations accused the mission of determining acts of using “doubtful sources” or “invented testimonies” in its latest report on serious human rights violations that were committed in the country after the presidential elections of 2024.

With a confrontant language during his speech before the UN Human Rights Council, Venezuelan ambassador Alexander Yánez Deleuze said that the reports of the mission “have nothing to do” with the situation of Human Rights but with a “regime change policy” that, he insisted, maintains the United States and his allies over the country.

According to Yánez, in this context the mission is “null and impractical” for based on “doubtful sources, invented or not verified testimonies” or using “statistics without methodological rigor.” He also said that experts have had a “novel performance” in a mission “that has not stepped on or ever stepped on Venezuelan territory.”

The fact determination mission delivered an oral report on a 172 pages document Regarding complaints of torture, arbitrary arrests, sexual and gender violence, forced disappearances, as well as the economic or illegal mining situation.

The report includes hard testimonies made by detainees, both adolescents, women and men, about the situation after the elections.

“We are not going to lend to validate such a parody,” said Maduro’s official, who criticized an alleged expense that amounts to almost 10 million dollars “in a context of the United Nations financial crisis.”

The official requested coherence and regretted that the United Nations Human Rights Council has not pronounced for the “barbaric” human rights violations to the Venezuelan migrant population.

“Venezuela has not attacked anyone, has not murdered children, women and men, less with smart missiles, has not premeditated buildings or bombarded hospitals (…) However, it is Venezuela to which this Council intends to point out, and let’s be clear: by influence of the United States and its European allies,” he reiterated.

He also questioned the function of the UN Council and the “hybrid aggression” of the US “for more than 20 years” that, he said, is based on “attempts for destabilization and false narratives” first against Hugo Chávez and then towards Nicolás Maduro.

Now, the ambassador highlighted, they seek to “intimidate with a war in the region.”

«Venezuela has deployed all its diplomatic abilities, Bolivarian peace diplomacy, to persuade an armed conflict in the Latin American and Caribbean region. At the same time, the people of Venezuela, faithful to their historical tradition, will defend their territory and oil wealth by all available means if we are intended to impose an aggression, ”he said.

*Journalism in Venezuela is exercised in a hostile environment for the press with dozens of legal instruments arranged for the punishment of the word, especially the laws “against hatred”, “against fascism” and “against blockade.” This content was written taking into consideration the threats and limits that, consequently, have been imposed on the dissemination of information from within the country.
