Alliance between Venezuela and Antigua and Barbuda promotes the defense of peace in the Caribbean

During the 80th General Assembly of the United Nations Organization (UN), the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, Yván Gil, held a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Gaston Browne, focused on the articulation of joint mechanisms to preserve stability in the Caribbean against the threats of the United States empire.

The Venezuelan Chancellor reported that “in this meeting, we have analyzed again the various threats that put the peace and security of our peoples at risk. We have expressed our most sincere thanks for the support and solidarity of ancient and Barbuda before the new imperialist siege.” The meeting is part of diplomatic efforts to consolidate common positions in defense of regional sovereignty.

Gil also said that, on behalf of the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, “we reaffirm our alliance as Caribbean countries, united by historical bonds of brotherhood and cultural, committed to the sovereignty, development and peace of all”, statements that were disseminated through their telegram channel.

Relations between Venezuela and Antigua and Barbuda are developed in multilateral instances such as the Commonwealth of Nations, where technical cooperation agreements and political dialogue are promoted. Both nations maintain active links in the Caribbean, oriented to respect for international law and strengthening regional integration.

In this context, the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) ratifies its support for the proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a peace zone, adopted in 2014. The document establishes principles for the peaceful resolution, respect for the rule of law and the promotion of nuclear disarmament, in line with the values that guide the diplomatic action of the Caribbean countries.
