The mayor of Lima Rafael López Aliaga said that he already made his decision on the general elections of 2026 in Peru. He also gave date to the announcement of his decision.

He explained that it was necessary to win a plenary indulgence, crossing the holy door of a Roman Basilica and indicated that he will make the announcement on October 12, when the legal deadline is closed.
López Aliaga made these comments during a speech offered in the district of San Martín de Porres, on the occasion of the inauguration of the new Pacasmayo Avenue.
Among other issues, he announced that on October 4 at the Magic Water Circuit, tribute will be paid to the American activist Charlie Kirk, killed in Utah, whom he considered one of the most tolerant men.
