The Union Attorney General (AGU) reported that the company Telegram removed from the application of the same name, groups and channels that disseminated and sold compounds based on chlorine dioxide as effective substances in the cure of various diseases, including cancer and autism.
Besides having no medical and scientific basis, Chlorine dioxide is corrosive and can cause serious health damage, especially in children. Nevertheless, it has been illegally sold as an alleged “miraculous medicine” since the Covid-19 pandemic.
The National Prosecutor’s Office of the Union of Defense of Democracy, AGU, requested that Telegram remove the groups last Friday (19). At the time, The agency also asked the company to block use and search for keywords (hashtags) that facilitate access to content.
“It is, therefore, manifest misinformation, devoid of any ballast or evidence, because it exposes manifestation on occurrences that do not match reality, with the effect of deceiving the public on the very relevant theme, namely public health,” the attorney-in-law in the notification sent to Telegram maintained last Friday.

According to AGU, the action of the Attorney’s Office was motivated by complaints made to the Ministry of Health and the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa). By ascertaining the complaints, Sanitary authorities identified 30 communities that used to recommend compounds for different purposes.
