Motta states that IR exemption can be on the agenda next week

The president of the House of Representatives, federal deputy Hugo Motta (Republicans), said on Monday (22) that The Federal Government Project for Income Tax Exemption (IR) for people who earn up to $ 5,000 should be voted at home next week. The parliamentarian participated in an event promoted by Banco BTG Pactual, in São Paulo.Motta states that IR exemption can be on the agenda next week

“I called Deputy Arthur Lira [relator desse projeto] To go to the College of Leaders this week explain your report, and so that, listening to the college, we can have a position on the agenda this week and, if possible, already take the agenda next week [para votação]. This is an important agenda, we know how much it will bring, from the point of view of tax justice, significant advances to millions of Brazilians. I think it is an agenda that in your maturity, comes the time to take this agenda to the plenary, ”he said.

Motta said that parliamentarians will be able to propose amendments to this project, but stressed that it is necessary to be responsible for the public accounts.

“Of course, each party has the right to propose amendment, to highlight. The plenary will be sovereign at the end of this decision, if the compensation changes, if the compensation is removed, if this range of exemption increases. All this is possible. I only think that every attitude that is taken by each party also has responsibility for the consequence of this attitude, because we are dealing with the public accounts of the country,” he said.

Toxic guidelines

The mayor was one of the main targets of this Sunday’s demonstrationswho repudiated the amnesty proposals to convicted of coup d’état, Like former President Jair Bolsonaroand the constitutional amendment proposal known as PEC of Armageaccording to which the House and Senate will have to authorize the opening of cases against parliamentarians.

This morning Motta said that “the current moment of the country is challenging”, but stressed that it is necessary to “take away all these toxic agenda”, “these banana bark” that have taken discussions today in the National Congress, to vote projects that really interest and dialogue with the population.

“At this point, the mayor must be cautious, balance and seek in this divergence all to find the slightest convergence, so that Parliament can fulfill their role. This is the voice of democracy, having, there, the opportunity for all to express their opinions on the most varied topics, and try to defend the agenda that does not depend only on the president, also depends on the college of leaders,” he said.

“We will take these toxic agendas, because no one can handle this discussion anymore. Brazil has to look ahead. We have to start discussing what really matters, which is an administrative reform, which is this issue of Income Tax, which is to be able to discuss public safety, which is having a delivery agenda to society,” he defended.

Although he did not explain what these “toxic agendas” would be, Motta says conflicts have dominated the country lately.

“Unfortunately, the agenda that leads today the news is the agenda of the conflict. It is the agenda that animates these poles and makes the most important subjects, which concern the daily life of society, in the background,” he lamented. “We need to look ahead of this new prospect of opening an agenda that comes out of this dichotomy, which is no use to the country, and we can take a step in discussing what truly matters to our population,” he added.

Regarding the demonstrations held across the country against the Amnesty Project and the Armage PEC, the mayor said he respects democracy and that the population is entitled to comment. Nevertheless, he defended the proposal of amendment to the Constitution that hinders legal actions against parliamentarians.

“The demonstrations show that our democracy has been more alive than ever. 15 days ago, we had manifestations from the right claiming other guidelines. Our population is on the streets defending what you believe. I have the greatest respect for popular demonstrations and I’m happy to see people going to the streets to defend what they believe,” Motta said.
