Havana.- The sum of four million pesos (CUP) in cash was deposited in the Grand Lodge of Cuba (GLC) last week by the former great treasurer Airam Cervera Reigosa after a year of the accusation for illegal subtraction of funds of the Masonic institution.
The information was transmitted through special circular No. 177, signed by Mayker Filema Duarte and Juliannis Galano Gómez, Grand Master and Great Secretary of the GLC, respectively.
“For the present we are giving knowledge to the Masonic jurisdiction, which in the course of the week we were cited this great teacher and the VH Juan Carlos Yero Ramos, great treasurer of the Grand Lodge of Cuba of Al and AM, for the deposit of four millions of CUP, added to the first million previously raised and released by the special circular of August 29, 2025, they make a total amount of five million CUP, delivered by the VH Airam Cervera Reigosa, who served as a great treasurer of the Grand Lodge of Cuba.
Although, as they refer to, the deposit was only made by Cervera Reigosa, it is understood that he did it in the name also of Mario Urquía because at the end of August both promised to deliver the sum of money. He August 29 Urquía Carreño and Cervera Reigosa delivered 1 million pesos to the GLC. That day, the Director of the Directorate of Associations of the Ministry of Justice and officials of the Ministry of Interior and the National Bank of Cuba were presented in the building to deliver the denounced (Urquía and Cervera).
Likewise, according to Filema Duarte in his statement at that time, “we were informed that soon they will be delivered from another 3,000,000 more.”
In the messages, the GLC officials do not detail how much the total amount subtracted by those involved in the Masonic order amounts to the Masonic order or if they would have finished returning it.
In September last year, Filema assured that he had made the complaint before the civil authorities against Urquía Carreño and Airam Cervera after an audit in which they confirmed the illegal GLC abduction, by the defendants, at least 2 million 116,555 pesos with 33 cents, a figure equivalent to 17,637.96 dollars (at a rate of 1 by 120, official exchange rate in Cuba).
Similarly, through special circular No. 127, published at that time, he indicated that Cervera Reigosa and Urquía Carreño proceeded to falsify at least one payment bill, as well as “guided the accountant Gertrudis Mena to consign as loss the theft of 2,700 USD”.
Less than a month earlier, Urquía Carreño had resigned from his position at the head of the GLC given the generalized rejection of the Masons on the island and after the corruption scandal that exploded when the alleged robbery of his office was known in the GLC of 19,000 USD.
Taking into account this information, the total amount of the stolen – including the 19 thousand USD supposedly stolen from the office (at a rate of 120 according to the official exchange rate) – by the defendants amounts to 4 million 720 thousand 555 CUP. So far, they have returned 5 million, so there would be 279 thousand 445 Cup. It is probably a sum of which it has not been informed so far.
However, the 19 thousand USD supposedly stolen from the great teacher’s office in January 2024 does not belong to the GLC, but was part of the treasure of the Masonic national asylum and that Urquía only protected in the safe of his office. Will this money be returned to asylum? Filema and their manager have not reported in this regard, they have only said that the total sum has been deposited in the GLC account, which would be falling into a violation of the awarding of money that does not belong to them.
The kidnapping of the GLC is maintained
Mayker Filema was dismissed as a great teacher by the Masonic community last May but remains in office for government support. Next Sunday, September 28, the semiannual session of the High Masonic Chamber should be developed but, as did before, he decided to postpone it for an indefinite date.
Through Decree No. 2880, Filema Alleges that your decision responds to “indisciplines” committed by the Masons last July 6in reference to the protest that they starred against them for refusing to comply with their dismissal.
