Carlos Eugenio Leyva Larrea (Florencia de Mora-Trujillo, 1994) tells us about his book “Invictus”, his experience writing him and his participation in the International Book Fair of Lima.
What specific experiences of your childhood in Florence de Mora do you decide to share in your book ”? In my book I share passages from my childhood in Florencia de Mora, a humble district of Trujillo. I remember growing in a mat of mats next to my mother and brothers, seeing my father fight against alcohol. From the age of seven I worked washing cars, cleaning tombs and loading packages in the markets to support my family. That stage marked me because I understood that hard work, discipline and faith could be the beginning of a path to transformation. These experiences became the basis of the principles I teach today.
Why did you choose the title “Invictus” for your book? The title reflects my philosophy of life. ‘Invictus’ means invincible, and describes the resilience that is needed to overcome poverty, failures and adversities. The ‘principles of wealth’ are not only financial, but also spiritual, family and leadership. I chose this name because it summarizes my purpose: show that true wealth is built with faith, vision and action, not only with money.
How was your participation in the International Book Fair of Lima? Participating in the Fil Lima was a dream fulfilled. There I confirmed that “Invictus” was not only my story, but a message that connected with thousands of readers. The presentation was made in the Blanca Varela Auditorium, the most important of the fair, with capacity for more than 600 people, and we achieved a total full. It was an unforgettable experience, a real closure with a flourish that motivates us to project the book towards new international fairs and scenarios.
How was the editing process of your book? I chose to work with Almandino Editores because we share the vision of publishing books with purpose: works that not only entertain, but also transform lives. His editorial accompaniment allowed Invictus to reach a broader audience and with a professional presentation. The impact was immediate: the book was exhausted shortly after its launch, which made a new impression necessary for its official presentation, consolidating it as a best seller. Beyond the figures, the most valuable thing has been to verify how the work became a tool for inspiration, motivation and business teaching for readers.
Is there evidence that your methods proposed in the book really work? The evidence is in the concrete results of those who have put this proposal into practice. People who previously lived in uncertainty today reach their objectives, have transformed their habits and have become leadership referents within their communities. Both in my conferences and in the book, we integrate principles of the works of Napoleon Hil (“Think and get rich”) and John C. Maxwell “The 21 irrefutable laws of leadership”, complemented with personal experiences. The practice confirms that, with the right mentality, it is possible to generate measurable, sustainable and positive impact on people’s lives.
