Crowds occupy capitals against amnesty and shielding PEC

Thousands of people went to the streets of the capitals of Brazil this Sunday (21) to protest against the amnesty to those convicted of attempted coup d’état and the call PEC of Armagewhich provides for the requirement of authorization from Congress to criminally prosecute deputies and senators. We recorded crowds on the streets of large cities such as Salvador, Recife, Natal and Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. In all, 33 cities had acts, including all capitals.

With the motto “Enemy Congress of the People”, protesters demanded the arrest of former President Jair Bolsonaro, sentenced to 27 years in prison for attempted coup d’étatcriminal organization, among other crimes.

In Salvador (BA), thousands of people concentrated in the neighborhood of Barra, by the beach, where singer Daniela Mercury performed for the public. “Bondegege is not with us,” said the Bahian artist.

The act also featured actor Wagner Moura, who also sang, in addition to praising the trial of the coup plot that condemned former President Jair Bolsonaro and allies.

“I wanted to talk about the extraordinary moment that Brazilian democracy goes through, which is an example to the whole world. We have always grown by saying that our democracy is fragile, that she is young. Our democracy has put to ‘lehar’ ‘ [para quebrar]”Said Wagner Moura.

In Belo Horizonte (MG), a crowd occupied the streets of the city center, in concentration in Raul Soares Square, with shouts of “no amnesty for scammers”. The act also had the presentation of artists, among them, the singer Fernanda Takai, from the band Pato Fu.

In Recife (PE), the act began around 14h, at Rua da Aurora, in the center of the capital of Pernambuco, with the parade of the Frevo Block I think is little, with one of the most traditional orchestras of the Olinda Carnival. Maracatu groups are also present in the act.

The Paraíba capital João Pessoa (PB) also made a protest this Sunday, with shouts of “Outside, Hugo Motta”, who is a Paraiban federal deputy and presides over the House of Representatives. Acts were also recorded in Belém (PA); Teresina (PI); Christmas (RN); Fortaleza (CE); Porto Alegre (RS); Florianópolis (SC); Brasilia (DF); Rio de Janeiro (RJ) and São Paulo (SP).

Called by the fronts without fear and popular Brazil, linked to PSOL and PT, the demonstrations had the presence of unions, student groups, artists and social movements, such as MST and MTST, as well as other left and center-left parties.
