Better safe than sorry is the message that the United States sends to Russia, with the shipment of two anti-ballistic missiles to Poland.
Poland. The vice president of United States, Kamala Harrisconfirmed today, Thursday, March 10, 2022, that two batteries of Patriot anti-missile systems have been deployed in Poland and announced that his country will deliver $50 billion to Ukraine through the United Nations World Food Program.
Harris said – during an official visit to Poland – that the shipment of the missile batteries is a proof of Washington’s “commitment” to that countrywhere most of the refugees have arrived flee Ukraine because of the war in that country.
On Warsaw, The US Vice President discussed the situation in Ukraine with members of the Polish Government and recalled that The United States has deployed to Poland 4,700 additional troops in addition to the 5,000 who are stationed there on a regular basis.
Support as a member of NATO
At a press conference with the Polish president, Andrzej Duda, Harris repeated the commitment to Washington with Article 5 of the NATO Treaty, on the mutual defense of its members, and stressed that “every inch of territory” of the alliance will be defended.
«We have provided military, humanitarian and security and this is a process that is ongoing,” he said, refusing to go into detail about the possibility of an eventual delivery of fighter jets to Ukraine. EFE
