The International Art and City Biennial begins in Bogotá: Details of the celebration

This Saturday, September 20 begins the International Biennial of Art and City BOG25, The most important public cultural event in Bogotá.

The inauguration of the Biennial will be carried out from 4:00 pm and can be followed through the Bogotá Portal, of the Capital District. The event will end next November 9after three weeks of various artistic and cultural activities.

The inauguration will take place in the La Santamaría Cultural Plaza at 6:00 pm hundreds of works in different areas of the city, made by national and international artistswill be available to the public.

The Mayor’s Office of Bogotá considers that the Biennial is a large contemporary art platform that transforms the capital into a large open museum.

The environmental axis, in the center of the city, was decorated with thousands of roses, carnations and chrysanthemums, among other flowers. In the channels that recreate the channel of the old San Francisco River About 150,000 flowers donated by the Colombian Association of Flower Exporters (Assocolflores) were installed.

With Mexico City as a guest of honor, BOG25 is a free event that invites you to see Bogotá as a work in itself, and to promote a broad and diverse conversation about the city, Public space, urbanism, nature and what represents happiness in the capital of the country.

The Biennial is organized by the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá through the District Secretariat of Culture, Recreation and Sports (SDCRD).

Co -directed by Diego Garzón and Juan Ricardo Rincón, has the curatorial advice of José Roca; and with the curatorial work of María Wills, Jaime Cerón and Elkin Rubiano. The curatorial axis is ‘Bogotá, essays on happiness’ a reflection on the link between the city and the search for well -being.
